The seventh day

What we did on Monday was prepare for the lesson on Tuesday. We were planning an easter day, so like we have to come up with different ideas on what can we do with the kids. Johana a lady that works there came up with the idea of pin the tail on the bunny. So I had to help her and I drew this big bunny and then I colored it so that it could look pretty and fun. Then I also had to pick a book to read the kids so I had to go to the libary and pick an easter book, and i chosed : Huevos De Pascua and it was about eggs and how bunnys collect them but they keep trying to getaway. I had to pick the book in spanish because some of the kids don't understand english well.
On Tuesday we started off by getting the kids in the rug and then I had to read to them the book that I choosed. After that we played the game pin the tail on the bunny, the ki seemed to like that game even though they were cheating they liked it. After that we had to make them color a little bit because we weren't done with the color of dye's that we were going to use with the eggs. So then once we were done with that we had them design their eggs in any way that they wanted to. We also had them put stars on the eggs before we dipped them in the paint so that once they were done they got to see stars in their eggs, but creating their eggs made a big mess and there was a baby that liked grabbing the kids eggs and then she would throw then the little kids would get sad because they were working on their eggs so we ept haing to gve them new eggs,

Sixth day

Well on Monday I had to come up with my own lesson plan to do with the kids but I wasn't going to do the lesson like teach it. I just had to come up with a lesson to see how they liked my ideas. I also had to pick a book to read to the kids, but I actually read to them. Also I had to get everything ready for Tuesday. My lesson plan had to be about different emotions.
On Tuesday we started with me reading to the kids and we had them sit in the circle. This actually helped me and I realized since I am working with little kids they can't sit still for such a long time. And I picked a book and it was about how Tono was having a bad day and that he was sad then he started to get mad, but at the end he got happy. Well that book was too long for them and next time when I go get a book to read to them I should really think about all the things that worked and all the things that didn't work. I already know that I need to get a smaller book. After I was done reading to them, we played a game with them and it was just make different faces depending on a emotion. We had them make a mad, sad, happy, surprise and other emotion faces. Once we were done with the game we did an art activity with them. What I had planned for them to do, well first I had to cut folders and paper plates in circles so it could represent faces, and another girl that worked for that program helped me with pasting them to a stick. So what we had to do was make a two different faces and they seemed to like it. I actually helped them a lot in this one because they wanted them to look in a certain way. One little girl came up to me and she wanted her face to be really happy and another little boy wanted hs face to be really mad so it was fun on seeing them how they reacted to my lesson and knowin what they liked.

These two day I worked in total 6 hours

FIFTH DAY

On the fifth day, we had a whole lessonn on colors. It was a really fun lesson they seemed to like it. What we did with them was that we played a game with them about colors. I'm not to sure on what the game was called but what we did was that we said a color and the kids had to go run to te rug where we had a bunch of different color. And they had to grab the color that we said. Then we did an activity with them it was an art activity and there was different shapes on this one paper that we gave to the kids and they had to paint the shapes in the color that we told them. So this art activity was more of learning shapes and colors.

Fourth day

What we did this day is that we made them decorate this sticky paper with glitter and little stars and other objects and when they were done with that we put on another piece of paper on top it was transparent paper so you could see they art. This day I also helped a kid out with their homework and that was fun because I remember doing that when I was in that grade but like I had to help him make questions for his favorite animals but we could only use a cerain amount of words. We also played with the kids afterwards and that was fun too. Also at my internship place we have like two babies that they can;t walk yet so someone always have to look out for them and there were these little girls that wanted to carry the babies and so like I got to experince something like that t was a good experience because since I wan to have my own childcare center one day I am really getting an idea on how the kids interact with each other and how the toddlers like playing with the little ones.

Thrid day

This day we worked on making turtles. What we did was just get the suppplies that we needed for this day. What you need is paper plates and just paint them green, google eyes and some material to make up for the head, arms and legs of a turtle.We did something different that day. We usally have toy's out so that the kids could play once they are done with heir projects but that day we didn't. At first the kids wanted the toys but once we started to do the project you could see that everyone was in on making turtles and they really like it.

Second day

The second day that I had my internship it was more fun because I know that I liked what I did last week. It was really fun seeing them do littlle projects. That day we did like little bookmarks. They had some sticks and we gave them thing to decorate it and made them really colorful.

The first day

What I really wnated to do for my WLE was getting the experience to work with little kids like todders and babies at Instituto Familiar De La Raza. What I do there is just watch kids, it's a program called Casa Corazon and we watch kids the people that work there don't consider themselves as baby-sitting they consider themsekves as mentors. What we were going to witn the kids is just do some activities with them. What surprised me was the idea that I would be working with older kids I actually wanted to work with little kids not kids from 6-11 years old I would of prefer working with little kids just because I like working with them the idea of working with older kids is ok just not what I wanted to do. Also that I have to come up with my own lesson plan and actually work an creating a book with them. I'm not too sure if I should do that because I don't know what kinds of different ideas each one of them will have. Another thing that surprised me was that I had to make phone calls telling them that the class will start tomorrow. They also had me going up and down the stairs to go get things from them. Even though i might be a good experience working with tese kids, it just wasn't what I was looking foward to do. I also don't know what to do with the kids because I don't know what to teach them. And also because i am getting a different ages they might like certain things and others may not. Another thing that really surprised me was that when I was in the office there were four other people there and they all left one by one. The frist person left because she didn't feel good. The second person left because it was her lunch break. The thrid person left because she had to go buy a couple of things. And finally the fourth person left because she was done for the day. I didn't know that they would just leave me alone in the office like that. So I just went to lunch becasue I was hungry and they left me alone.
On tuesday when I started to work with the kids I was really happy because at the end I ended up working with the little kids like I wanted to. I was glad that I worked with the little ones because it reall gave me the experience that I wanted, like to know how they act when their mom leaves. Also how kids interact with each other and me as one of their mentors. I was really happy that I get to do my internship on something i really like doing.
